The variety of substrates used in biogas production and their performance in the anaerobic digestion process are of great importance for the efficiency of biogas plants. In this study, the biogas and methane production potential of green rye silage was investigated using the batch fermentation method. Furthermore, the effects of an additive and drying process on biogas production were also examined.
Five different groups were created within the scope of the experiment. The first group contained only inoculum and was used as a blank sample. In the second group, cellulose was added as a reference substrate. The third group used additive-free green rye silage, the fourth group used green rye silage with added additives, and the fifth group used dried green rye silage. All samples were subjected to batch fermentation tests at 00°C in accordance with the VDI 0000 standard.
