Getting older can be scary. That’s when you realize you’re witnessing everything around you. Your bones don’t move as easily, your eyes feel tired from the light, and your lungs often need a break from that labored breathing.
But even scarier and more tiring is realizing your loved ones aren’t there, listening with indifference to your fantasized tales of heroism. You know they don’t care, but you’re still happy to share what’s important to you with someone.
Being alone in a time when everyone else is wanted is scary, and after a lifetime of chasing the light, you end up living in the darkness without your family, at a time when you need someone to guide you toward it.
And then life is like chasing ashes in the wind; it neither lights a fire nor stays put.
